Dr. Michelle Thirkield
Dr. Michelle Thirkield is dedicated to providing the highest quality care to those she works with. She specializes in working with children, young adults, and their families to manage anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and skin picking or hair pulling behaviors. She also provides early childhood parent support to help address caregiver imbalance and rebuild collaborative caregiving. Dr. Thirkield utilizes a strengths-based approach to help those she works with meet their goals and improve their quality of life.
Dr. Thirkield has experience supporting individuals with a broad range of challenges including selective mutism (SM), separation anxiety, social anxiety, generalized anxiety (GAD), phobias, disordered eating, obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD), trichotillomania, excoriation disorder, and behavior disorders. She is trained in providing evidence-based treatments including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), parent management training (PMT), parent-child interaction therapy for selective mutism (PCIT-SM), Habit Reversal Training (HRT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE).
Dr. Thirkield utilizes an integrative approach to ensure individualized care for those she works with. She works collaboratively with individuals and their families to identify meaningful goals and create lasting change.
In her free time Michelle enjoys comedy, high-intensity workouts, and getting out into nature with her daughter!
